Comparative Performance of ATRIA, CHADS2, and CHA2DS2-VASc Risk Scores Predicting Stroke in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation

The authors of this study evaluated the effectiveness of CHA2DS2-VASc and CHADS2 scores compared with ATRIA score for predicting stroke risk in 60,594 patients with atrial fibrillation not on warfarin. The ATRIA score had a C statistic of 0.70, which was slightly higher than the C statistic of 0.68 for both the CHADS2 and CHA2DS2-VASc scores. Compared with CHA2DS2-VASc, ATRIA had a positive net reclassification improvement of 0.23.

ATRIA may be better at predicting the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation than CHADS2 or CHA2DS2-VASc.
