The authors of this study evaluated the effectiveness of CHA₂DS₂-VASc and CHADS₂ scores compared with ATRIA score for predicting stroke risk in 60,594 patients with atrial fibrillation not on warfarin. The ATRIA score had a C statistic of 0.70, which was slightly higher than the C statistic of 0.68 for both the CHADS₂ and CHA₂DS₂-VASc scores. Compared with CHA₂DS₂-VASc, ATRIA had a positive net reclassification improvement of 0.23.

ATRIA may be better at predicting the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation than CHADS₂ or CHA₂DS₂-VASc.
